Levente Kovács (1922-1992)
Cet artiste était un globetrotter qui a habité en Hongrie, en Italie, en Allemagne, en France et au Québec de 1957 à 1985. Kovacs a fréquenté l'Académie des Beaux-Arts de Budapest de 1942 à 1946, où il a étudié sous l'égide des peintres hongrois : Odön et Kaczian. Boursier du gouvernement de son pays d'origine, il a par la suite suivi des stages dans plusieurs grandes villes et il a le privilège de travailler avec le peintre Molinar.
Il a connu beaucoup de succès ici et était représenté entre autres par les galeries Michel Bigué, l’Art Français et Art Sélect pour ne nommer que celles-là. Il est tombé en amour avec les Laurentides au nord de Montréal et cette région est devenue pendant un bon bout de temps son premier choix de sujets de prédilection. Il avouera dans une entrevue dans Magazin’Art qu’André l’Archevêque l’a beaucoup influencé d’où sa technique d’impressionnisme classique contemporain et le choix de ses paysages bucoliques de la région de Saint-Sauveur.
Ce tableau est un très bel exemple de son œuvre des années 70-80 et ce sont les détails des fleurs qui bonifient la perspective et qui rendent ce tableau si attrayant et plein de charme. Un peintre malheureusement oublié et que l’on redécouvre avec le plus grand plaisir.
Un petit chef d’œuvre intemporel qui saura égayer votre collection et vous rappeler les beaux coins de pays de notre belle province.

Levente Kovács (1922-1992)
This artist was a globetrotter who lived in Hungary, Italy, Germany, France and Quebec from 1957 to 1985. Kovacs attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Budapest from 1942 to 1946, where he studied under the aegis of the Hungarian painters: Odön and Kaczian. A scholarship holder from the government of his country of origin, he subsequently followed internships in several large cities and had the privilege of working with the painter Molinar.
He was very successful here and was represented among others by the art galleries Michel Bigué, l'Art Français and Art Select to name just a few. He fell in love with the Laurentians north of Montreal and this region became for a long time his first choice of favorite subjects. He confessed in an interview in Magazin’Art that André l’Archevêque had a great influence on him, hence his technique of contemporary classical impressionism and the choice of bucolic landscapes of the Saint-Sauveur region.
This painting is a very beautiful example of his work during the 70’s to the 80’s and it is the details of the flowers that enhance the perspective and make this painting so attractive and full of charm.
